Scalp Micropigmentation and Tattooing what is the difference?
The difference is pigment implant depth, pigments are implanted into the Dermis in both techniques. Scalp Micro Pigmentation or 'SMP' treatment needs to be implanted in the upper level of the Dermis, tattooing goes deeper into the second Dermis layer.  The upper layer of the Dermis maintains the shape of the implanted pigment as the deeper the implant depth the more blurred the pigment becomes.
SMP needs precise control over the shape and the pigments contain natural ingredients that are often found to be solely plant-based,  ensuring a significantly reduced risk of allergic reactions.

The needles are much finer than tattoo needles and have microscopic rough edges whereas tattoo needles are smooth.
How do I prepare for the treatment?
Ensure you are relaxed wear comfortable clothing bring some earphones and any snacks you may need.

The procedure can last from a couple of hours up to the entire day depending upon coverage needs.

Do not take Iburpfen, Asprin or any medication to thin the blood at least 48 hours before the treatment.

Should you need it, numbing cream can be applied before treatment.
How long does scalp micropigmentation last?
Micropigmentation is considered semi permanent. The effects may last up to 6 years, the area will fade over time since all skin naturally exfoliates itself.  While the colour may lighten, it'll only change if an incorrect pigment is used.
A refresh may be required around the 3-6 year mark to address any potential fading.

How does this work?

By replicating your own natural hair follicles and hair colour, scalp pigmentation can help strengthen and add density to thinning areas, creating an undetectable illusion of thicker, stronger hair giving you the look of a full head of hair & style.

Implanting natural pigments just below the surface of your skin using a machine that’s been fitted with a microneedle.

Once healed, the series of tiny dots that have been implanted provide the appearance of imitation hair follicles that sit underneath the hairline giving the impression of density.

Have you already had a treatment?

If you’ve had a hair transplant and are unhappy with the visibility of your surgical scar, scalp micropigmentation can help conceal it.

A large percentage of scalp micropigmentation clients seek the treatment to help camouflage strip and FUE scarring associated with prior hair transplants.

Many times these types of scars can be very visible and limit hair style options for the individual.
What is the aftercare treatment and routine like?

Treat your scalp like an open wound after Scalp Micro Pigmentation (SMP) treatment and please avoid getting it wet and keep it clean for a minimum of 7 days.

Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours and taking part in tough cardio sessions during this time. Excessive sweating can lead to an interruption in the healing process.

No chlorinated pools, saunas, steam rooms, Hot tubs or tanning beds for 28 days after your final treatment.

Avoid scratching the scalp and using irritants - the skin on your scalp could start to peel during these next few days. It’s important to refrain from scratching or picking any scabs that may form.

The best ways to ensure long lasting results:

Use sunscreen on your skin - minimum of SPF 30
Avoid getting a tan on the treated area
Use fragrance-free soap for the first month on your scalp
Use moisturiser right after taking a shower and before bed to keep your scalp healthy
Do not use Retinol/AHA containing products as it will make the pigment fade
Do not use products with a high concentration of alcohol in them
